No chemical pesticides have been allowed since 1997 and breeders often describe the trial as among the most challenging in the world. ‘Dark Desire is also called ‘Gräfin Diana’, dedicated to Countess Diana Bernadotte (b. April 18, 1982 Scherzingen), of the Bernadotte family branch of Mainau, Germany. --- (Wikipedia, “Dark Desire”) retrieved March 2021.

  • ‘Dark Desire’ hybridizer Tim Hermann Kordes is a fourth generation breeder with W. Kordes’ Sohne. The rose nursery was founded in 1887 in a small town north of Hamburg, Germany called Elmshorn, by 22-year-old Wilhelm Kordes.  Wilhelm became a leading rose expert of his time and moved the business to Sparrieshoop, Germany where it remains to this day. Many well-known roses have come from 5 generations of this famous company, including ‘Crimson Glory’ in the 1930s; ‘Iceberg’ and ‘Westerland’ in the 60s; ‘Sunsprite’ and ‘Rosarian Uetersen’ in the 70s.  Kordes® markets roses in over 30 countries around the world. --- Kordes® Roses.us
