Notes:
- “It’s been 20 years since William Radler introduced the Knock Out rose (2000), a rose whose self-pruning habits, generous blooms and disease-resistant properties quickly became the industry standard. In fact, Radler recently was named one of three winners of the 2020 Award of Excellence from St. Louis-based National Garden Clubs, Inc., the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world, for his creation that revolutionized the rose-growing and gardening industries.
- The royalties earned from the discovery of the Knock Out rose — which evolved out of Radler's hobby of cultivating and hybridizing roses — made the garden possible. “When Knock Out royalties started coming in, I decided that I wanted to create the garden of my dreams, and in 2009 the construction started,” he told a reporter visiting the property in Greenfield, Wisconsin, for the first time. Work on the garden is ongoing, but the 77-year-old has plenty of help. A staff of about a dozen people work to manage the gardens and grounds.” --- “Greenfield’s Will Radler,” (July 8, 2020) at jsonline.com
