- ‘Dark Desire’ hybridizer Tim Hermann Kordes is a fourth generation breeder with W. Kordes’ Sohne. The rose nursery was founded in 1887 in a small town north of Hamburg, Germany called Elmshorn, by 22-year-old Wilhelm Kordes. Wilhelm became a leading rose expert of his time and moved the business to Sparrieshoop, Germany where it remains to this day. Many well-known roses have come from 5 generations of this famous company, including ‘Crimson Glory’ in the 1930s; ‘Iceberg’ and ‘Westerland’ in the 60s; ‘Sunsprite’ and ‘Rosarian Uetersen’ in the 70s.
