Notes:
- “Probably one of the most famous roses in the trade, Blaze was introduced in the fall of 1932 by the Jackson & Perkins company. They held a contest the previous year to name the rose and over 25,000 entries were received. The winning entry, ‘Blaze’, received $100. The success of the rose was partly due to ingenious marketing and heavy promotion. However, it cannot be denied that ‘Blaze’ is a fantastic rose. An ‘Improved’ version was introduced in 1950, bred by a Czech grower. This one boasted repeat blooming and this is the version that you find in nurseries today. The rich crimson color of the blooms set against dark green foliage is stunning when grown on archways, posts and pillars.” --- “Blaze” at A Southern Garden.com
